We’re 10 weeks and 70 easy vegan tips in to 2012. How’s it going? Are you finding it easier to be vegan than you expected? Share how it’s going for you in the comments below. I’m here to help make your vegan journey easier, so give me the scoop.
Tip #64: Call ahead.
Before choosing a restaurant that “might” have vegan options, call to confirm the restaurant is vegan-friendly — especially when dining with non-vegans. This will allow you to focus on the people you’re with rather than worry about what food you will eat. Also, you’ll feel more confident when ordering and confidence is always a good thing.
Tip #65: Be open-minded.
This is the surest path to being a happy vegan. Keep trying new foods and learning new ways to cook. From dictionary.com:
1. having or showing a mind receptive to new ideas or arguments.
2. unprejudiced; unbigoted; impartial.
Tip #66: Vegans watch TV.
Check out these vegan TV shows:
- The Jazzy Vegetarian on PBS
- Vegan 101 comedy series
- VegNews TV
- Vegan Black Metal Chef
- Veg Cooking Shows on VegTV (Check out this episode with a three ingredient salad dressing.)
- And coming this summer, Delicious TV’s Vegan Mashup
Tip #67: Be nutritious.
Subscribe to Jack Norris’ blog for research updates on vegan nutrition. This update is important for everyone — get enough sleep. Getting seven or eights hours of sleep is one of the easiest healthy steps we can take everyday. Are you getting enough sleep?
Tip #68: Watch Earthlings.
You can watch it online for free.
Tip #69: Be informed.
Check out Dr. Fuhrman’s interview with Dr. Michael Greger and then check out NutritionFacts.org, where you can watch his nutrition facts videos. He posts a new video every day. Dr. Greger also releases an annual clinical nutrition DVD. These are informative and entertaining.
