Making Vegan Easy Week 17 Round-Up

Enjoy these making vegan easy tips-of-the-day from my Facebook page, and share with your friends and family. Let’s change the world together.

Tip #113: Celebrate Earth Day everyday.

Go outside and spend some time in nature. Enjoy what Spring has to offer. Take a walk, ride a bike or have a picnic. I promise you won’t regret it. Love planet Earth. Home sweet home.

Tip #114: Try jackfruit.

It’s a “meaty” like fruit that can be used as a meat substitute. I ate it for the first time last year at a restaurant in Madison, WI. It was delicious in a BBQ sauce. You will want to buy it canned in water (not a sugary syrup). It’s available at Asian markets. The recent issue of VegNews has a delicious jackfruit curry recipe. We made it last night with a lot of fresh spices and it was a wonderful aromatic experience. If you haven’t tried jackfruit yet, give it a try. I think you will like it.

Tip #115: Read to your kids.

The new book, Vegan is Love, is now available. Isn’t it great there are vegan books for kids too.

Tip #116: Eat out.

Mercy for Animals has an excellent web page of restaurant guides. But if you live in an area where vegan food is hard to come by, then use their detailed “how to” guide to get vegan dishes added to menus of your favorite restaurants. MFA has successfully worked with many restaurants in Chicago. It may takes some effort but it will be worth it.

Tip #117: Spring clean.

Say no to harsh chemicals and animal testing, and make your own safe and cruelty-free cleaning products. My favorite cleaning supplies are baking soda and white vinegar. I use those a lot to clean the kitchen and bathroom.

Tip #118: Eat fiber.

I like this article, not because it’s about weight loss, but because it talks about “crowding out” and instead of “cutting out.” It’s a positive shift on making healthy food choices.

Tip #119: Spice it up.

Cinco de Mayo is May 5th. Celebrate with some homemade vegan Mexican food. I fell in love with Mexico last year and I’m celebrating with a tortilla making party.
