Making Vegan Easy Week 33 Round-Up

Every day in 2012 I am posting one tip on my Facebook page to make living vegan easier. It’s going to take an army of vegans to move the world in a more compassionate direction. Join us today!

Tip #225: When you attend a veggie festival, be sure to where your favorite message shirt. Why didn’t I think of wearing one to Veggie Fest? Everyone else did. (By the way, did you know you can buy It’s Easy Being Vegan t-shirts now? Well, you can!)

Tip #226: Vegans need to have thick skin. This is really tough for many of us who are super sensitive. There will be people, many close to you, who will push your buttons. Some intentionally, some not. Be thoughtful in your response, if any. I have found it better to ignore them most of the time.

Tip #227: Often when the topic of meat/dairy/eggs/leather (you name it.) comes up between a non-vegan and a vegan, the non-vegan will apologize for “needing” to eat or use animals for some reason. Honestly, nothing annoys me more because they are apologizing out of guilt. But because I don’t want to make people feel bad and I hope that eventually they will move to a more compassionate diet on their own terms, I kindly let them know apologies aren’t necessary around me. Then I try to move the conversation in another direction. I really like to keep things positive. How do you handle these types of conversations?

Tip #228: There’s a new vegan magazine on newsstands called Vegan Health & Fitness. Have you seen it yet?

Tip #229: The animal rights movement has its very own “David vs. Goliath” situation. If you care about animals, read this. It’s long but worth your time.

Tip #230: Read this post from Vegucated about the importance of community. Remember my tip #2: Find Your Tribe? It’s important! I don’t know what I would do without my tribe and I certainly don’t want to find out. How have you met other vegans?

Tip #231: Today is the perfect day to go vegan. How can I help? Send “Ask a Vegan” questions to
